I’m Amanda. I have over 20 years of industry experience providing strength-based and recovery-focused casework and consultancy in the community sector. I continue to engage and develop trusting professional relationships with people from a range of backgrounds. I have a thorough understanding of the complexities of disengagement, mental health, homelessness, substance abuse, financial distress, emotional regulation, trauma, and isolation. With lived experience, my journey towards recovery has assisted me in achieving grounding, calmness, and purpose.
I have worked in Sydney’s Inner West, Western Sydney, lower Blue Mountains, and South West regions for the past 16 years, supporting youth and families living with a mental health condition at risk, specializing in Youth Homelessness, Home Care as well as supporting young people who are at risk or have disengaged from mainstream education.
Working in this sector has enabled my development of strong cross-cultural and interpersonal communication, and conflict resolution skills. I have a clear understanding of the issues faced by people who are culturally and Linguistically Diverse or who identify as a First Nation person, Aboriginal, or Torres Strait Islander. I would also like to acknowledge my personal connection to the LGBTIQA+ non-binary community and neuro-divergent communities. I am incredibly passionate about assisting young adults to develop meaningful relationships, independent foundation skills and positively connecting with their communities. Mindful Hearts was created out of my passion for providing a positive and meaningful relationship that is client-centered and trauma-informed, to address barriers faced by the participants, so they can lead and maintain a purposeful life.
